Poiana Stampei

On the border between Ardeal and Bucovina

Situated in an area full of history and legends, at the border between Ardeal and Bucovina, Poiana Stampei is one of the most picturesque localities in Bucovina.

Established since 1593, the village has developed over the centuries. A lot of migratory peoples crossed the border of the locality, first the Turks, the Austro-Hungarians, the Germans, the Russians, each contributing to the enrichment and diversification of culture and civilization.

Here, they still preserve the most beautiful costumes in Bucovina. These costumes are worn at easter and christmas and other holidays too, the most important moments of human life like: birth, wedding, funeral. Forgetting them would be equivalent to losing a treasure.
