Saschiz: The Unknown Transylvania

Saschiz Fortified Church is one of the 25 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Romania. Saschiz is renowned not only as home to one of Transylvania's finest fortified churches but also as a carpentry and wood-painting center. It was here that Saschiz blue pottery was born in 1702.

The Saschiz fortified church is a Lutheran fortified church in Saschiz (Keisd), Mureș County. It was built by the ethnic German Transylvanian Saxon community at a time when the area belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary.
